What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a Freeform Conscious Dance. As soon as you enter the space, you are invited to let go of judgements and expectations, and allow yourself to feel your emotions, sensations, body, mind, and spirit. Because this is a safe space for movement and expression, we do request that you follow these main guidelines:
✨ No shoes on the dance floor
✨ Wear comfy clothes
✨ No booze (or any other drugs)
✨ No talking during the dance (body language only)
✨ Freedom of expression is welcomed, (just no talking during the dance)
✨ Trust in the journey and move through everything that arises.
We are an inclusive community, where we come together for the joy of moving and dancing together. This means that some people come simply for exercise, some come for social connection, and some come to use the dance as a form of therapy, emotional catharsis, spiritual practice, or prayer. Whatever your reason for wanting to move, you are welcome.
What to Wear?
Dress to sweat! We recommend you wear clothes that allow your full range of motion. Bring socks if you wish, but no shoes are allowed on the dance floor. Always bring a water bottle, and make sure to stay hydrated throughout the dance! Water is provided for all participants.
Most importantly: bring an open mind, a curious spirit, and a body ready to dance!
What to Expect:
Cacao Ceremony: We’ll begin with a sacred cacao ceremony, sipping on ceremonial-grade cacao to open our hearts, enhance our senses, and ground ourselves. Cacao is a natural plant medicine, used for centuries to support emotional healing and spiritual growth. All are welcome to participate, but you are also welcome to simply hold space for your fellow Dancers.
Ecstatic Dance: Once the cacao has warmed our spirits, we’ll flow into an ecstatic dance journey. In this free-form movement practice, there are no steps to follow or rules to adhere to—simply allow the music to move you. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or new to this form of expression, all are welcome.
This is a judgment-free space for you to let go, feel empowered, and connect with yourself and others. Come as you are, and leave feeling more alive, present, and joyful!
