EPV Summer School: Peace, Reconciliation and Inclusion in Diverse School Communities
Léargas are pleased to announce another Summer School programme which will be taking place this July. Peace, Reconciliation and Inclusion in Diverse School Communities, Summer Course will run under PEACEPLUS ASPIRE Porject.
The course will be both face-to-face and online, and caters to registered primary teachers in Ireland. This blended learning course is approved by the Department of Education. Course costs are covered by Léargas and lunch is provided at the venue over 2 in-person days. B&B is not included.

The course will run from 6 -7 July. It is held over two days in-person at the Cara House Family Resource Centre, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, and three days online via Moodle (complition date not later than 21 August).

The course aims to enhance participants’ understanding of peace, reconciliation, and inclusion especially for those teaching in the post‑conflict counties. It will also be applicable to educators working within diverse contexts and with newcomer communities in schools. The course will support teachers in their classroom practice and to consider how the eace, reconciliation and inclusion themes can contribute to whole-school improvement.
In this course, you will learn:
- To identify barriers and enablers of meaningful pupil engagement and evaluate approaches to improve level of pupil influence.
- Specific ICT skills to support inclusive strategies and to use diverse types of digital tools for accessible pupil’s voice.
- To apply conflict resolution strategies and define age-appropriate ways of resolving conflict.
- To identify and demonstrate the integration of the peace and reconciliation theme to relevant policies and curriculum areas.
- Approaches to interactive group work, exploring each other’s experiences and ideas in a structured manner.
- Assessment techniques using ICT that can be used within classroom context.
- To build parent and community partnerships that can support peace and reconciliation and inclusion.
- To use the school self-evaluation process to critically analyse a policy or curriculum area in relation to peace and reconciliation and create an action plan and evaluation framework that can be used in their context.
Primary school teachers who successfully complete the course will be eligible for three EPV days.
