Epiphany is a time to celebrate the universal Gospel message. Our Lord is a light for every nation, tribe, language, and people on earth. 2023 is a particularly special year to celebrate this festival. 500 years ago in 1523, Martin Luther began an evangelical reform of the Church's worship. He opened up the traditional liturgy for many different peoples, giving central place to the Word in different languages and cultural expressions.
Christ is the Word-made-flesh, whose dwelling among us–among all peoples on earth–is the heart of the Epiphany festival. R2W is co-hosting this special Service, along with many other Services around the WELS and ELS this year, to celebrate this fact. And, of course, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Luther's evangelical reforms of worship.
Please join us as we kick off these celebrations at St. John's on the Hillside! The Service will feature special guest preacher, the Rev. Brady Coleman of Siloah Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. The festival Service will also feature percussion and brass to enhance the musical settings. A short introduction to Luther's evangelical reforms will precede the Service, beginning at 6:15pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
