About this Event
The Cultural Compact invites artists and organisations from across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole, to join us for three illuminating and energising workshop sessions across the conurbation this Autumn.
Facilitated by Sian Alexander (Independent consultant, trustee of Julie’s Bicycle and former Executive Director of various producing theatres across the UK), we aim to inspire and provoke constructive dialogue about creating culture in a changing climate.
Session 1: Exploring our role in a changing climate
@ Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth
Wednesday 22nd October, 2-5pm
Special Inspiration Speaker: David Buckland, Cape Farewell (https://www.capefarewell.com)
What does it mean to be an artist/practitioner in a climate emergency?
How do our ethics and values inform our approach?
How do we forefront care and justice?
These workshops are free-to-access and in addition we’ll be able to pay five freelancers £40 to attend each workshop. See here for more details: https://forms.gle/9jtibyxAgwvQn2uG6.
The other workshops will be in Poole on 13th November, and in Bournemouth on 2nd December, with more details to be announced soon. If you can only make one session, don’t worry. You’re welcome to join all three conversations, or only one or two. Each event will empower attendees to connect with others and feel more confident dealing with climate-crisis-related issues as a result.
