Environmental and Studio B&W Portrait Photography with Jean Schnell

During this six-week workshop series, adult learners will explore the central and subtle nuances of black and white environmental and studio portrait photography with film.

October 6, 13, 20 + November 3, 10, 17

Thursday evenings, 6-8pm at the Print Room

◉ Students will explore lighting techniques and how to best use available light.

◉ Learn the importance of context, facilitating thoughtful relationships between subject and environment to reveal what is not always visible about people or places to the surface.

◉ Open to students of all levels, beginning through advanced. Basic film processing and darkroom printing instruction will be available.

◉ Students will need a 35mm film camera with a manual lens to control apertures, one 25-sheet pack of 8x10 Ilford Photo Paper, and two rolls of Ilford HP5 black & white film. Camera loans are available if needed.
