About this Event
The reality is, most startups and new entrepreneurs don’t begin with deep pockets or big investors. Yet, the entrepreneurial world often assumes that success starts with capital. In this session, we’ll address the elephant in the room: how to build, scale, and sustain a business when financial resources are limited.
As a woman founder, I’ll share insights on:
• Leveraging your skill set to drive growth and minimize costs
• Prioritizing key business functions when funds are tight
• Cost-effective tools and platforms for outsourcing without breaking the bank
• Building strategic partnerships and tapping into your network for free or low-cost support
• Scaling sustainably while maintaining ownership and control
Entrepreneurship is about making what you do have work for you. This session will empower aspiring founders with actionable strategies to maximize their potential, pivot wisely, and create a thriving business—without waiting for funding to make it happen.
About the CEO:
Kady Cox is a nonprofit founder, entrepreneur, and consultant specializing in business development, grassroots strategy, and sustainable growth. As the Owner & Principal Consultant of Cox Consulting Firm, she has helped entrepreneurs, startups, and nonprofits navigate the complexities of building and scaling their organizations—whether they’re launching with zero capital or managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
With experience working across a broad financial spectrum—from grassroots founders with minimal startup funds to established organizations operating with $1.4M–$10M budgets—Kady has mastered the art of maximizing impact with minimal resources. Her experience managing and consulting for large-scale budgets has allowed her to reverse-engineer success strategies for entrepreneurs with limited funding—helping them leverage skills, implement cost-effective systems, and strategically outsource without overspending.
In addition to her consulting work, Kady is the Founder & Executive Director of Raising Awareness with Students (RAWS), a nonprofit committed to bridging gaps in minority health disparities, particularly diabetes, through education and advocacy. Her firsthand experience running a nonprofit—without initial major funding—gives her unique insight into the challenges that new founders face. She understands what it takes to bootstrap, prioritize resources, and still create meaningful impact.
Beyond consulting, Kady has an extensive background in political organizing and advocacy. She has worked at The White House under President Obama, served as a Regional Organizing Director for When We All Vote, an organization co-founded by Michelle Obama, and held positions with the Mayor’s Office in Lansing and the Michigan House of Representatives. Currently, she is the Organizing Director at People’s Action, where she continues to drive grassroots movements and community empowerment.
As a woman founder, Kady is passionate about helping other entrepreneurs build wealth, independence, and impact—without waiting for capital to validate their vision.
