About this Event
Jo-anne Cox, electric cellist and the team are delighted to invite you to an online sharing of their sensory theatre experience, Enter The Dragon’s Cave (ETDC). Following on from an initial exploration as associate artist in 2022 with Oily Cart, UK’s leading sensory theatre company for young people, Jo-anne received funding from Waltham Forest Council, as part of their Make It Happen grants programme. ETDC was further developed with students in Waltham Forest, in collaboration with dramaturg, Lowri Jenkins; puppeteer, Rachel Warr; and creative technologist, Gary Day. Meet the team, find out more about the project and what’s next on the 25th of March at 12:30pm!
About ETDC: Enter The Dragon’s Cave (ETDC) is a Disabled-led, small-scale, intimate, music-based sensory theatre experience in development for young people aged 8-13 who experience multiple barriers to access (often referred to as having profound and multiple learning disabilities, or PMLD). The project’s purpose is to connect young participants to their own Dragon’s Cave: their space of wonder and exploration.
ETDC is led by contemporary cellist Jo-anne Cox, in collaboration with Lowri Jenkins (creative enabler/dramaturg), Rachel Warr (puppeteer), Gary Day (creative technologist), Valeria Radchenko (creative enabler) and the young people themselves.

[Event Image Description:
A triptych of photos from a performance of Enter the Dragon's Cave. The photos appear tinted as the room is illuminated by a pinky-purple light.
Right photo: Gary, holds an iPad up to a student to interact with, smiling. The student is reaching out to touch the screen, which displays an image of a purple cartoon dragon.
Central photo: Jo-anne, is playing her sparkly purple electric cello, looking slightly to her right and smiling. On the floor in front of her are fx units, a small light and an amp.
Left photo: Two participants reach into a sensory bucket representing the entrance of a cave, exploring the textures of the various materials such as wired sponges and net fabric. All we see are their hands. Rachel is holding the bucket, looking in and demonstrating.]
