A Contemporary Dance Workshop by Shifu Ash (Ashutosh Mohanty) from Mumbai.
Shifu Ash, a dance movement researcher, educator and choreographer and the founding member of DCI (Dance Council India). His expertise lies in movement practices such as Wing Chun, Aikido, Contact Improvisation, Modern Contemporary Dance and Ballet with an experience of 20 years.
In the year 2021, Shifu Ash was titled The Saint Beast by the International Martial Arts Federation Japan.
Trained with a number of masters like: Grandmaster IP Chun, Nancy Stark Smith, David Zambrano, Frey Faust, Sara Shelton Mann, Kira Kirsch, Andrew De Lotbinière Hardwood, Akram Khan, Desmond Richardson, Era Jouravlev, Stephanie Godino, Terence Lewis, Mia Michael, Sonya Tayeh, Anjelika Doniy, Danny Ezralow, Ohad Naharin, to name a few.
He has been invited for guest-lectureship at Goa Contact Festival, Berlin Contact Festival, Contact Meets Contemporary Festival Goettingen, Tokyo Nomadic Residency, Chinchintalu Festival Dubai, Goa Dance Residency, Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company, Nritya Shakti, Institute Of Classical & Modern Dance India, Saint Petersburg Conservatory Dance, Radi Sveta Art Moscow, SDVIG Studio St.Petersburg, etc...In 2019 and 2021 he was also invited to ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival as an assistant to Kira Kirsch.
Class Description:
In this workshop, we will take a deep dive into the understanding of the anatomy, mechanics & complexity of the dragon-shaped lines that have been transforming along evolutionary timelines to provide efficiency, endurance, and safety.
