This program aims to recreate the kind of informal salon concert that was so common in Jane Austen’s England, and will feature musical selections directly from Austen’s collection of manuscripts, copied out in her own hand, and printed music, purchased and bound in her lifetime. The evening will include performances by two guest artists, Dr. Gili Loftus, fortepiano, and Dr. Corrine Byrne, soprano, students from Professor Chang's "Music and Gender in Jane Austen's England" class, and some surprise guests. There will be instrumental music, singing, and dancing - in which the audience will be welcome to participate!
