When is a pretty standard music biodoc not a pretty standard music biodoc? When it channels one of the smartest and most fertile artists of the past 50 years in a suitably creative fashion. Director Gary Hustwit hits the predictable bullet points (childhood, Roxy Music, solo pop career, ambient revolution) plus some fascinating strays via an algorithm that reshuffles the film with each screening.
