Writers flourish when they have specific, professional feedback on what they write. They learn where the strengths in their writing are and can be guided with specific strategies to enhance those strengths and the overall impact of their stories. This five-session workshop is an opportunity to create fictional and personal writing and receive positive, supportive feedback. Whether you’ve recently considered writing, have been writing for years, or have dabbled with it throughout your life, this workshop has something for you.
In each session, participants should expect to receive impromptu writing opportunities, inspiration for written pieces to be developed between classes, and individual, supportive feedback on the writing they share in class.
Drawing on his extensive experience in teaching, in writing-group co-ordination, and in editing and responding to the works of others, Trevor Martens will provide:
A safe, supportive space to share your fictional and/or personal writing
Prompts, themes, and other inspiring writing strategies
Attentive and personal feedback on your writing
This five-session workshop takes place from 6:30-8:30PM, on Monday nights at Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge at 580 Pembina (at the end of Grant).

Trevor has taught high school English for 15 years and has been passionate about writing and storytelling his entire life. He’s spent the last five years editing and responding to the writing of others as a co-facilitator of writing groups. He has recently facilitated workshops at McNally Robinson in Winnipeg and the Niverville Heritage Centre. In addition, he’s worked as a freelance substantive editor for the last two years where he’s supported writers of fiction and memoir. Trevor now focuses on his own writing and on being an instructor of creative writing and an editor of the writing of others.
