About this Event
Catalytic converters are an important part of every vehicle exhaust system. They filter harmful vehicle exhaust using precious metals with a high black-market value. Catalytic converter theft is up over 300% nationwide, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB).
CVPD wants to help make you a hard target by engraving the vehicle identification number (VIN) on your catalytic converter. This simple act may deter theft and assist police in investigating thefts!
The City of Chula Vista has generously sponsored this event.
The Public Works Automotive Department will offer this engraving service free of charge on February 22, 2025 to the first 250 registrants!
To register, you must meet the following conditions:
- Your vehicle must be currently registered (proof of vehicle registration is required).
- Only passenger vehicles qualify (no RVs).
