About this Event
The English Chamber Choir is one of the UK’s leading and busiest vocal ensembles. Recent highlights include the Royal Albert Hall (Harry Potter, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Gladiator Live), Royal Festival Hall, London Palladium (with Rick Wakeman), Buckingham Palace, Barnes Festival, Temple Church, Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Sophia and many concerts at St Martin in the Fields and abroad.
This late-night concert in the beautiful surroundings of St Philip’s Cathedral, explores the theme of light as sun sets on the longest day of the year. Alongside familiar works such as Elgar’s Nimrod and Eric Whitacre’s Lux Aurumque, this vibrant, meditative and exhilarating programme also explores stunningly sonorous folk-inspired contemporary repertoire; music, poetry, light, architecture and time combining sublimely.
ECC is conducted by highly-acclaimed Artistic Director, Rufus Frowde, The organ (one of the country’s finest) is played by rising star, Ashley Wagner, the Cathedral’s Assistant Head of Music.
The 60-minute concert will run without interval.
