About this Event

The French Library is excited to announce our new English Book Club!

We will be reading and discussing works from our new English language collection to help English speakers discover the world of Francophone literature.
----

Our second meeting will be Tuesday, April 21st, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

We will be discussing "The Belly of Paris" by Émile Zola, a classic novel set in the bustling Les Halles food market that follows Florent Quenu, an escaped political prisoner who finds refuge with his brother's family but soon becomes entangled in political intrigue. Émile Zola was an activist, journalist, and the most famous novelist of late-19th century France.

Please read the book in its entirety and come ready to discuss with an open heart! The book club is a space for readers of all backgrounds. Previous familiarity with French literature or French language is not required. The discussion will be in English.
------

Options for purchasing the book:

Penguin Random House | Barnes and Noble | Rizzoli Bookstore

------

The book club is open to all - free for members of the French Library and $5 + fees to non-members. Members Reminder: Enter the email address linked to your French Library membership in the Promo Code field to unlock the member price. Not a member yet? See where OUI can take you!
