About this Event
In our tech-driven age, code isn’t just a part of our lives—it’s the heartbeat of our digital existence. From simplifying our daily tasks to opening doors to new innovations, it powers everything we do. Yet, with recent high-profile breaches the stakes have never been higher. How can we harness the potential of code while safeguarding against its pitfalls?
We invite you to join us as we deep dive into the world of digital infrastructure and unravel the dual-edged sword of our digital reliance—celebrating the possibilities while tackling the complexities and risks that come with them.
Our expert panel, spearheaded by , will lead a thought-provoking discussion on:
- Cybersecurity Essentials: How to protect and fortify our digital realm.
- Crafting Superior Code: The art and science behind reliable and efficient programming.
- The Broader Impact: Exploring the economic, social, and legal impacts of digital infrastructure.
Panellist:
- , Senior Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering- Her research spans applied cryptography, post-quantum cryptography, cybersecurity, blockchains, and data privacy. She has received several competitive grants and has delivered over 100 lectures globally. Dr. Ruj is a senior member of ACM and IEEE, serving on various editorial boards and program committees. Prior to UNSW, she was a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61 and held academic positions in India. She holds a Ph.D. and Master’s in Computer Science from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
- , Founder and CEO of Avertro, a venture-backed, global cybersecurity software company. He has over two decades of cybersecurity, business, and leadership experience in a variety of global roles spanning advisory, strategy, sales, marketing, product, services, and technology functions in some of the world’s leading companies including McAfee, Ernst & Young, and IBM.
- , Head of the School of Law, Society & Criminology- Lyria co-leads the Law and Policy theme in the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre and is Faculty Lead in the UNSW Institute for Cyber Security. Her research focuses on the intersection of technology and law, addressing legal issues arising from technological changes. Recently, she has worked on AI and cybersecurity legal frameworks. Lyria is on editorial boards for several journals and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and the Royal Society of New South Wales.
- , Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering- Hammond specializes in the cybersecurity of embedded and cyber-physical systems, including additive manufacturing and industrial informatics. He leverages AI for new design strategies like automated code writing and bug repair. He won the Efabless AI-Generated Open-Source Silicon Design Challenge and the IEEE S&P Distinguished Paper award. Hammond holds a B.E. (Hons) and a Ph.D. in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Auckland
Following the panel we will host drinks and canapes, giving attendees the opportunity to network and discuss the boundless opportunities that digital technology offers for innovation and growth.
