Join education leaders, employers, professional bodies and STEM partners for a collaborative day focused on improving diversity, progression and innovation within engineering and technical education.

This event will explore how further education, higher education and industry can work together to create clearer pathways for women in STEM and develop the skilled workforce needed for the future.

Arrival refreshments and informal networking opportunities.

10:00 – 10:15 | Welcome & Opening Remarks
Introduction to the theme of Engineering Intelligence and the importance of diversity, collaboration and innovation across STEM education and industry.

10:15 – 10:45 | Setting the Landscape: Women in Engineering
Keynote discussion exploring participation, progression and outcomes for women in STEM, and how collaborative partnerships can accelerate change.

10:45 – 11:30 | Panel Discussion: From Policy to Practice
Sector leaders from FE, HE, employers and national organisations discuss:

  • Removing barriers to progression
  • Building inclusive STEM pathways
  • Embedding diversity through curriculum and delivery
  • Translating strategy into measurable impact

11:30 – 12:00 | Audience Q&A
Interactive discussion and reflections from delegates.

12:00 – 12:45 | Networking Lunch
Opportunity to connect with colleagues and sector partners.

12:45 – 13:00 | Spotlight Session: Women in Engineering Role Models including a World Skills Competitor
Short inspirational talks highlighting progression journeys, overcoming barriers and the role of mentoring, competitions and employer support.

13:00 – 14:30 | Collaborative Workshops
Facilitated breakout sessions exploring:

  • Barriers facing women in STEM
  • FE and HE collaboration opportunities
  • Curriculum innovation and employer engagement
  • Practical sector actions for the next 12 months

14:30 – 15:00 | Plenary & Closing Reflections
Workshop feedback, shared commitments and next steps for continued sector collaboration.

The event will bring together representatives from education, industry and national STEM organisations to share ideas, build partnerships and identify practical actions to strengthen diversity and inclusion across engineering and technical education.
