Engineering Eco-Friendly Slippers in Middle School

Join us for an interactive workshop designed for middle school educators interested in incorporating engineering and computer science into their classrooms. Gain insights into integrating engineering and computational thinking to create cross-disciplinary learning experiences.

This workshop focuses on YES’s middle school unit, Engineering Eco-Friendly Slippers, which challenges learners to design sustainable slippers using eco-friendly materials. Learn how to guide your students through the engineering design process to address real-world environmental issues.

You will also experience one of the companion computer science modules using MATLAB, powered by MathWorks, User Reviews. This module asks students to analyze user review data to improve their designs and consider how to increase computer accuracy. Learn how these modules deepen learners’ understanding of not only engineering, but also the real-world impacts of designed solutions.
