About this Event

Engeldinger Marsh is known as one of Iowa's biggest conservation victories. The marsh is a diverse wetland located in northeast Polk County along the highway from Des Moines to Marshalltown; it was threatened by the proposed divided highway. Once almost destroyed by that highway expansion, this area supports as many as 300 species of plants and a variety of wildlife.
