[ENG] Self-With-Others weekend intensive

Sat May 25 2024 at 10:00 am to Sun May 26 2024 at 06:00 pm

Parco della Caffarella | Rome, LA

I'm delighted to extend the work I've been offering, particularly in the past months, to English-speakers, and invite you to a two-day dive into cultivating a technique of pleasure, presence, connection, and ensemble - qualities that in Self-With-Others underpin performance across all disciplines.
Self-With-Others is an interdisciplinary performance training, developed by John Britton in his years as a solo and ensemble performer and teacher, as MA director at Huddersfield University, and within DUENDE Ensemble. It's the fruit of some thirty years of practice and rigorous scientifically grounded research. It draws on a rich heritage of practice and principle geared towards personal and communal empowerment, self-determination and sustainability of practice.
We'll train, improvise, learn together. It will be fun, at times challenging, surprising or frustrating. Over this short journey, you'll plant embodied seeds of some of the principles of Self-With-Others, learn how to give and receive feedback and a solid experiential learning pedagogy.

Dates and times:
18-19 May, 2024
10-13 + 15-18 on both days, for a total of 12 hours.
50 euros per participant
We'll train mornings in a studio(further info soon) and afternoons in the gigantic Parco della Caffarella. The weather will be warm and the nature will be a clean break from the Roman chaos.

Info on the facilitator:
Marco Aurelio Di Giorgio is a performer born in Venice and currently based in Rome. He holds a conservatory degree in flute, a Bachelors’ in Russian and English language and is currently attaining a masters’ degree in cognitive sciences of communication and action. Over the last nine years, he has trained and performed across disciplines and contexts, mainly in Athens, Milan, Moscow, Venice and Rome, in particular as an associate of DUENDE Ensemble and under the mentorship of John Britton. His training and performing proceeds parallel with prolific intellectual and practical research and with the development of an ethically informed personal philosophy. His performances emerge as the attempt to make manifest a personal feeling, through investigation of communicative and cognitive contexts of experience and infiltration or disruption of habit and expectation.
