Energy Poverty: Community Insights, Data Platforms & Policy Solutions
co-designing actionable policies.
About this Event
Energy poverty and vulnerability require solutions that combine ground-level community perspectives with robust, data-driven policy tools. Building on the progress of the IREPO and EPCO initiatives, this workshop brings together national advocates, social justice representatives, regional energy leads, and researchers for an interactive day of knowledge sharing and tool prototyping.
The morning session features a series of short keynote addresses exploring energy poverty from the perspectives of grassroots community action, environmental advocacy, social welfare, charity support networks, and regional energy project implementations.
The afternoon shifts to a technical update and hands-on session on IREPO/EPCO project updates, including a demonstration on data integration, spatial vulnerability metrics, and interactive networking activities.
Who should attend?
The workshop is for anyone with an interest in the topic of energy poverty in Ireland, including researchers, advocacy groups, charity leaders, and regional energy agencies.

ABOUT IREPO
The Irish Energy Poverty Observatory ( IREPO) project aims to go beyond the conventional factors that define energy poverty by developing a federated database that consolidates all relevant factors impacting energy poverty. This integrated database will overcome data limitations by integrating various data sources in near-real time, including surveys, interviews, historical databases, census data, and more.
Using machine learning algorithms, IREPO will identify patterns within these datasets, allowing for data-driven decision-making and policy support. By combining diverse data sources such as energy commodity fluctuations, renewable energy data, and economic and social indicators, IREPO will provide a comprehensive understanding of the risk factors and impacts of energy poverty.
