In the last two years, electricity rates in PA have skyrocketed. Everyone knows that they're paying more for power. But over and over, when we talk to homeowners, we realize that most have no idea what they're actually paying for.
If you bring your latest electricity bill on Wednesday, March 11th, we'll teach you everything you need to know. Join us for a night of networking and education!
This is our first event, so we're limiting it to 20 people. Reserve your spot today on MeetUp: https://www.meetup.com/the-energy-literacy-project/events/313310872/?slug=the-energy-literacy-project&eventId=313310872
Here's what you can expect:
6-6:30: Settling in, meeting each other, and networking
6:30-7:30: Educational bill breakdowns, Q&A, and a presentation from PennEnvironment about pending legislation that could help bring down energy costs
7:30-8: Hanging out and winding down
In this session, we will cover:
- The Bill Breakdown: The difference between "Supply" and "Distribution" charges (and why utility companies are raising both).
- The "Price to Compare": How to know if you are paying more than the market rate for electricity, and what you can do about it.
- The Rate Hikes That Are Still Coming: Why rates have risen so fast in our region and what analysts predict for next year.
What to Bring: Please bring a copy of your most recent PECO, PPL, or PSE&G bill (paper or digital). We will help you read your specific rate and usage history and explain what you can do to lower it.
Note: This is an educational event. There will be no pressure to buy anything. Just clear answers to complex questions about electricity for anyone who's fed up with rising rates.
