End Grain Cutting Board Class

This class, taught by Wave Pool's wood shop manager and fine artist Scottie Bellissemo will be a great compliment to the Introductory classes at Wave Pool's Wood shop and is a great gift just in time for the holidays!

The End Grain Cutting Board is superior to edge grain cutting boards because the end grain is more resistant to deep knife cuts and it will not dull your knives as fast as edge grain. The end grain surface cuts are less noticeable as well since the surface is stronger. They can be made from the same wood such as maple, cherry, or walnut. Or you can use all varieties of species and colors of wood to make a mosaic like pattern that is totally unique and beautiful. Wood for this class will not be supplied. As you will want to go to the lumber yard to be able to select the types of wood you would like to use for yourself.

A separate email will be sent to all the students taking class on how to select wood and how much to select for your own end grain cutting board. It will depend on whether you make it from one wood, or a variety of woods. Also, how thick/large you want to make it. With in reason of course.

All other materials will be supplied such as glue, sandpaper, butcher lock oil that we will make and rubber feet, if you so choose to use them. These cutting boards make great serving or charcuterie boards or your everyday use butcher block. They will last a lifetime and impress not just yourself but your friends.
