Harwood Art Center and Escuela del Sol Montessori are pleased to present Encompass, a unique multi-generational art event that takes place annually. Featuring five invitational exhibitions, open studios, hands-on art making projects, live music, food trucks, and activities for all ages, Encompass is both a reflection of and an offering to our community; this year, we are focusing on “Remembrance & Renewal”. Encompass is Harwood’s capstone celebration for the year. We invite everyone to this free event as we come together in community! We are so excited to bring back Open Studios! The last Open Studios we held was in March 2020. Studio artists invite you to into their studios to visit them, view their artwork and purchase their beautiful wares. Studio Artists retain 100% of the sales made.

Featured Exhibitions:
Grief Movement: breana connor, Matthan Cowart, Jordan Alvarenga, Sarah Hogland-Gurulé and Caroline Netschert. Grief Movement is a meditation on creating interdependence through healing ritual, shared grief, carework and artmaking.
Archive of Memory: A Visual Journal Retrospective
Lined up on shelves in an antiquated library, the Visual Journals and Sketchbooks of Albuquerque mixed media artist Juliana Coles are a collection of lost and fragmented memories due to a life of seizures.
Art to Save the World
The Escuela del Sol Junior High, in collaboration with their fellow students and school community, is putting on an art exhibit to save the world. Three fabled artifacts of legendary power are being assembled in different timelines, but everything will converge on April 1st where all will rise… or fall.
Cross Pollination
Featuring artworks created in community through the Youth Mural Project, Social Practice, and our paid summer Apprenticeship in Art & Social Justice. This exhibition highlights harwood’s outreach, apprenticeship and collabortive program artists.
All Together
An exhibition of work made by Harwood Art Center’s extended community, All Together includes Harwood studio artists, administrative staff, practicing artists, teaching artists and Escuela del Sol Montessori teachers, to reflect our organization’s mission to nurture a passion for lifelong learning, creative expression and engaged citizenship.
