What to Expect
Enchanted Forest Adventures: Nature Super Heroes is a service unit-based, badge-focused outdoor learning experience designed for Girl Scouts of all ages - especially 4th grade and older Girl Scouts interested in practicing and/or completing a meaningful service project within an underserved greenspace that would greatly benefit from long-term care and stewardship.
This recurring experience invites participants to become Nature Super Heroes through leadership, accountability, shared responsibility, stewardship, storytelling, seasonal outdoor learning, and hands-on care for our parks.
Participants won't simply visit a park - they'll learn what it means to actively care for, advocate for, and build lasting endearment toward a trail system through stewardship and community connection.

Where to Meet
Constitution Lakes Park

Meet at the stone seating area in the main parking lot.
Time: 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
What to Bring
Wear weather-appropriate clothing that fully covers the body and sturdy, waterproof, closed-toe footwear suitable for outdoor walking and stewardship activities.
Please also bring:
- Refillable water bottle
- Snack to share
- Gardening gloves
- Notebook or paper for storytelling contributions
- Personal comfort items for outdoor participation
- Eye protection
- Bug spray and sunscreen as needed
- Cell phone with the iNaturalist app downloaded, set up, and tested in advance
Restrooms
Restroom facilities are not available within Constitution Lakes Park. Our wonderful neighbors at Rush Trucking graciously allow program participants to use their restroom, located toward the back right of the building as you enter their parking lot area. We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership and hospitality.
Recommended Ages
Girl Scouts of all ages are welcome with parent or troop chaperone support.
This experience is specifically designed to support 4th grade and older Girl Scouts participating through the Service Unit model. Adult leaders and volunteers are encouraged to attend and participate.
What We'll Do
Activities vary seasonally but may include:
- Explore the Nature Super Heroes: STEWARDSHIP theme through badge work and Service Unit goals
- Participate in our collaborative "thought toss" storytelling activity, creating a shared narrative inspired by the park, season, and observed habitat
- Engage in hands-on stewardship, including litter removal and introduced species management
- Help prepare and care for trails connected to the Birds Georgia: Georgia Birding Trail Initiative
- Explore leadership, civic responsibility, environmental learning, stewardship accountability, and long-term community care
- Continue building toward collective trail adoption and care throughout 2026 and beyond
- Contribute to community science through biodiversity observations and data collection using iNaturalist and eBird

- July 19: STEWARDSHIP - Adopt A Trail Work Day
- September 20: BioBlitz & STEWARDSHIP - Adopt A Trail Day
- November 15: Gratitude Celebration
September Special Theme
Our September stewardship experience will also participate in the 2026 NRPA Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz, adding iNaturalist-powered community science to our Nature Super Heroes adventure. As participants care for the trail, we'll also observe and document pollinators, plants, and other biodiversity encountered along the way.

Weather Contingency
This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).
Walking Distance
Light to moderate walking at a relaxed pace with frequent stops for stewardship activities, observation, storytelling, and discussion.
Exposure
This is an outdoor woodland and wetland-edge experience with varying levels of sun and shade. Participants should be prepared for heat, humidity, insects, vegetation, mud, and changing seasonal conditions.
Trail Surface & Accessibility
Constitution Lakes Park includes paved and unpaved surfaces, boardwalk, natural trails, and areas that may be uneven, muddy, wet, or affected by vegetation and weather conditions. Stewardship activities may also take participants onto less-developed portions of the trail system.

Dogs
Because this experience includes groups of Girl Scouts, stewardship activities, tools, and hands-on outdoor work, participants should leave pets at home.

We love documenting our programs and may share photographs on DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs' websites, publications, and social media platforms. While participants are welcome to take their own photos, photographs taken by staff are generally intended for County documentation and promotional purposes and are not routinely distributed to participants.

By registering for this activity, each participant hereby acknowledges and agrees that he/she is participating in this program at his/her own risk and holds DeKalb County and all its officers, agents, servants, and/or employees harmless from and against any and all claims, loss, damage, charge, or expense to which they or any of them may be put or subjected by reason of participant’s participation in this program. You further acknowledge that DeKalb County is not responsible for the acts of others participating in this program and the other participants may include, but not be limited to, interested individuals, members of civic groups, religious groups, or community group, and/or persons convicted of crimes and/or violations of County ordinances and ordered to provide community service. I give permission that all photographs, films, video recordings, and sound recordings of me and/or my child(ren) made by the DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs during this Naturalist program may be used non-commercially by the DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs to promotion and educational purposes.
