Uncover the ancient technique of cold wax painting, a process that dates to the earliest known use of encaustic. Unlike encaustic methods, cold wax painting requires no heat, offering a versatile and accessible approach to creating textured masterpieces.
What is Cold Wax Painting?
Cold wax painting involves mixing cold wax medium with oil paints to fashion a thick, textured surface on canvas. Cold wax medium, a paste-like substance derived from beeswax, solvent, and resin, enriches oil paints, adding body, depth, and texture to each stroke. Through layering and manipulation, artists craft works with tactile qualities, vibrant color, and captivating depth.
