About this Event

Considered an iconoclastic film of Mexico's "cine de oro" era, Enamorada, will surely thrill any film student, historian, and the family.
With Emilio Fernández's singular directorial style, paired with the incisive cinematographic eye of Gabriel Figueroa, and a star-studded cast with the legendary María Félix and Pedro Armendáriz, we have in Enamorada a film that endeavored to bring the Mexican murals of Rivera, Izquierdo, and Siqueiros to life. Written by Fernández as a modern take on Shakespeares' The Taming of the Shrew , this film addresses themes centered around female empowerment, the dignity of the working-class, and love during revolutionary times.
