This beginner friendly workshop will have a maximum of 8 participants. You will learn a little about the history of enamelling, look at examples of enamelling with different techniques and then design your own simple pieces of enamelled jewellery (earrings, a pendant) learning about the different properties of both copper and solid silver, and making your own designs.
The enamels used are vitreous enamels which will be kiln fired. You will learn to apply the enamels to the metal and gain an understanding of the firing and then finishing process. You will be guided gently through all the processes involved and everyone will leave with at least one completed piece of jewellery, usually two.
You will be provided with all the tools, materials and equipment needed, however if you would like to make a more complex piece (or additional pieces) of jewellery additional copper and silver will be available to purchase on the day.
