Register at https://pelicanpark.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=3255***Join Ellen Ogden for a mindful landscape painting class held outdoors ("en plein air") . This class welcomes both experienced painters and beginners. Participants will learn novel approaches to connecting with the painting process through techniques in paint handling, translating the landscape, and exploring the internal growth that can occur when focus meets intention.
Each participant will create a painting while working under cover of the Northlake Nature Center's Pavilion. An open and receptive mindset is encouraged. We will provide all necessary materials. If you have a French easel you’d like to use please feel free to bring it.
Ellen Ogden is a visual artist focusing on murals, plein air, and large scale architectural stained glass. Plein air has always been the practice she does between commission work as a way to slow down, absorb the goodness of an outdoor setting, keep her painting chops playful and sharp, and often connects to history, community and ecology.
Ellen encourages anyone who sees her setting up her plein air easel to stop and chat. She is excited to share her tools and experiences while guiding participants in a non-judgmental and contemplative workshop with the Pelican Park Nature Club.
