About this Event
Let There Be No Empty Bowls In 2026.
In our community, one in five children are considered food insecure. Food insecurity exposes these children to the risk of delayed cognitive development, behavioral problems, and diet-related diseases. The Kids Café Program is one way that we help address this problem.
In 1995, Columbus Parks and Recreation, the Columbus Housing Authority and Feeding the Valley partnered together and started the Kids Café Program for children in our community.
Through our Kids Café Program, we are able to provide 500,000 hot, nutritious meals and after school snacks to children annually. Who are these children we feed? We have sites in public housing neighborhoods, Truth Spring Academy, after school programs at Open Door Community House, the YMCA, all Parks and Recreation sites, Girls Inc., and various after school programs at churches. In the summer, we expand this program and provide meals to more children in our service area. And, throughout the year more than 300 of our partner agencies are trying to meet the needs of assisting families with healthy, nutritious foods.
Our Kids Café Program is partially funded by the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and the balance is raised through grants and fund raising efforts.
Empty Bowl is hosted by Columbus Parks and Recreation and each ticket purchased includes your choice of a unique bowl crafted by the talented potters at Britt David Pottery Studio or a hand painted bowl created by members of the community.
Tickets also available at the door. Payments may be made with cash or card (processing fees applicable).
