Tyler, Texas – November 13, 2025 — Empowerment Community Development Corporation (ECDC) is proud to announce the commencement of renovations on its first home as part of the groundbreaking “Making Affordable Homes a Reality” initiative.

This milestone event underscores ECDC’s commitment to expanding access to homeownership for first-time home buyers, seniors aged 55 and above, and veterans within the Tyler community. Through this initiative, the organization continues its mission to educate, equip, and empower individuals by addressing the growing need for affordable housing in East Texas.

The official renovation kickoff ceremony will take place at 2013 North Tennaha Avenue, off of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tyler, Texas, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Local leaders, community members, and supporters are invited to gather for this momentous occasion, marking a significant step forward in improving access to affordable housing opportunities.

“Our goal is to make the dream of homeownership attainable for more people in Tyler, and this project is just the beginning,” said Stanley Cofer president of ECDC. “We believe that stable housing is the foundation for stronger families and thriving communities.”

The “Making Affordable Homes a Reality” program aims to transform neglected or underutilized properties into safe, affordable homes, helping to revitalize neighborhoods and empower residents to build lasting legacies of homeownership.
