About this Event
For 6 consecutive Saturdays from 21 Sep - 26 Oct 2024, 10am - 1pm SGT (GMT+8), we will be running our IN-PERSON workshop, "Empowered Relationships With Your Tweens and Teens" for parents of children ages 9 to 16 years old, where we'll equip you with Positive Discipline principles and tools that invite problem-solving, cooperation, independence, and respectful communication.
Learning, practicing, and applying Positive Discipline tools and principles have been an essential part of our growth as a parent so that we become more connected with the children we love. And this is why we are bringing this to you - to equip you with the skills and tools you need to make that transformation as well!
Inside this 6-week experiential workshop, we’ll walk you through:
- Developmental changes occurring in the adolescent brain
- Setting your own parenting goals
- Reflecting on your current parenting style
- How to set boundaries in a kind AND firm way
- How to keep your influence while supporting their interdependence
- How to move from nagging to empowerment
- How to motivate teens to be more responsible using encouraging communication
- Problem-solving skills with teens
- Parents-helping-parents sessions where you get to bring YOUR unique parenting challenges to the table, and practice problem-solving skills for those challenges with the community
- … And so much more.
What is Positive Discipline?
Positive Discipline is an approach to parenting rooted in mutual respect. It is neither punitive nor permissive, and strikes the healthy middle ground between the two. Based on Jane Nelsen’s book on Positive Discipline and well-researched psychology applied in over 80 countries, it focuses on long-term parenting strategies that help children feel a sense of belonging and significance, and build the skills that they need to be confident, responsible, and contributing adults in future.
Conducted by Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educators with training in Nonviolent Communication and trauma-informed approach, this workshop will be fun, experiential and interactive with opportunities to step into the child’s world to understand which discipline methods work and which do not.
