EMP Trio + Geoff SchneiderThe EMP Trio is excited for their second show at The Treelawn and is thrilled to be joined by saxophonist, composer/arranger, and recent Bowling Green State University Masters graduate Geoff Schneider, who is fresh off the heels of his debut album Pride Suite. Geoff Schneider, an Indiana-based saxophonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader, was born and raised in Pennsylvania. His early career saw him performing at notable venues such as Deer Head Inn, Rochambeau Boston, and Carnegie Hall. A student of David Bixler and Bryan Olsheski, Geoff has shared the stage with renowned artists including Vincent Herring, Allison Miller, Benny Benack III, Tamir Hendelman, and Dave Douglas. He is now celebrating the release of his debut album, Pride Suite, a work that reflects on and honors queer life in contemporary America.
Evan Palermo, a Cleveland-based musician, is currently pursuing his studies at Bowling Green State University. Over the past five years, Evan has established a distinguished reputation as a premier choice among local theaters, music directors, churches, amusement parks, and band leaders. His most recent endeavor, the EMP Trio, aims to significantly impact the jazz community with its dynamic and evolving sound designed to captivate and inspire.
Luca Albano was born in Rome, Italy in 2004, and started his piano studies there in about 2008. Since then, he and his family ended up in Rochester, NY, where he spent 9 years studying classical piano with the pre-collegiate program at the Eastman Community Music School. Now a student at BGSU, studying both classical piano performance and jazz studies, he is looking to develop his musicality as well as his overall mastery of the instrument.
Thomas Johnston (b. 2004) is an Australian-born multi-instrumentalist and composer. Thomas composes all kinds of works of varying styles and genres for different chamber ensembles, jazz bands, wind ensembles, and orchestral ensembles. He currently is studying music composition and jazz studies at Bowling Green State University. His teachers include Dr. Christopher Dietz, Dr. Piyawat Louillarpprasert, Jeffrey Halsey, and Aidan Plank. Thomas has worked with groups such as The Toledo Symphony, Else, if Else ensemble, and was a finalist at the ICA festival call for scores with his piece Settle.
