About the Film
In the years following the Holden factory closing, a young emo skateboarder from Elizabeth comes up with an illegal money-making scheme that embroils him in something far bigger than he ever dreamed and only his car-racing-obsessed mum and emo ex-girlfriend can save him from a terrifying fate.
Brock (Jude Turner) is an eighteen-year-old boy living inthe shadow of the abandoned General Motors Holden factory in Elizabeth, South Australia. He lives with his disabled Holden-obsessed mum Shazza (Gabby Llewelyn)and both are struggling to overcome a recent family tragedy connected to the factory. Grief affects them in different ways; Shazza’s obsessed with the former glory of Holden, Bathurst and Peter Brock and unable to face the present, while Brock has buried all emotion so deep he’s unable to feel anything and is determined to find a way out of poverty, no matter the cost.
Brock learns from his preppy uni frenemy Hunter (Brad McCarthy) that the best way to climb out of his circumstances is to earn passive income in the property market, all he needs to get started is a million dollars. This quickly becomes Brock’s goal— His method is breaking into his clients’ wealthy homes, stealing data from their computers and transferring his ill-gotten gains into foreign bank accounts. Everything goes according to plan until Brock stumbles onto the hit-of-a-lifetime— a cannabis grow house with millions of dirty dollars in the bank. Brock can’t resist the temptation and steals enough money to reach his goal, but it comes at a terrible cost.
The drug gang, led by Wayne (Adam Tuominen) and Punkkid (Jaya Suartika) track Brock to his Elizabeth Housing Trust Home, where Shazza and Brock’s emo ex-girlfriend Kylie (Tatiana Goode) risk becoming the innocent victims of Wayne's deadly revenge. Along his journey toward financial independence and social mobility, Brock learns that moral goodness isn’t always aligned with financial net-worth, that a mother's unconditional love has the power to overcome any obstacle and that sometimes in life ‘The Walls Run Into You' meaning that success or failure isn’t-always the result of hard work and individual choices, but in many cases, circumstances out of our control.
