Auckland’s home of alternative nightlife is throwing another full‑venue, two‑level emo takeover, continuing a tradition that began in 2014. For over a decade, Ding Dong Lounge has been the place where emos gather to scream their favourite lyrics, cry in the chorus, and reconnect with the songs that shaped them. This edition brings it all back: live bands, DJs, karaoke, drink specials, comfort food and a crowd that understands exactly why these songs still matter.
LIVE BANDS AT DEAD WITCH — STRAY DOGS + PSYCHOWOLF
Upstairs opens with two Tāmaki Makaurau acts. Stray Dogs return after a long break, bringing their melodic, high‑energy pop‑punk sound back to the stage. Formerly Fire for Glory, they’ve been a staple of the local scene for over a decade, known for heartfelt lyrics, punchy riffs and anthemic choruses. Their 2023 album Stay Loyal marked a strong new chapter, and their live shows remain emotionally charged and crowd‑driven. Joining them is Psychowolf, performing their debut show under this project name. Featuring Banjo Paterson, Aidan Courtnell, Alex Aylett and Zel Kušt, Psychowolf blends alternative and trance‑rock influences, with tracks like Feare, Stepback, I’m Electric and their latest single Get Sick.
MAIN BAR — POP‑PUNK & EMO ANTHEMS ALL NIGHT
Downstairs becomes a full‑scale emo dancefloor with DJ Drew Bang and more DJs to be announced. Expect a nonstop mix of the biggest emo and pop‑punk tracks from the 2000s and beyond, including My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Blink‑182, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, All Time Low, AFI, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, Pierce The Veil, Mayday Parade, Avril Lavigne, Yellowcard, Simple Plan, Dashboard Confessional, Escape The Fate, Bring Me The Horizon, Silverstein, Underoath, A Day To Remember, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Hawthorne Heights, Story of the Year, Finch, Senses Fail and more. If it made you feel something, it’s getting played.
ELDER EMO HOUR — 7PM TO 8PM
For the emos with babysitters, early‑night energy or a need to scream before bedtime. Discounts on all house beer, wine, spirits and mixers, plus a playlist stacked with early‑2000s essentials. T&Cs apply.
EMO HOUR RETURNS — 12AM TO 1AM
At midnight, the second wave hits. More drink specials and more singalongs. T&Cs apply.
EMO KARAOKE FROM MIDNIGHT
Once the bands wrap upstairs, Emo Karaoke takes over Dead Witch. Belt the hits, cry through the deep cuts or scream the classics with a room full of people who get it.
FOOD MENU — FUEL FOR THE FEELS
The kitchen stays open late with comfort‑food staples like Korean Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese Bites, curly fries and more. Perfect fuel for a long night of emotional chaos.
