Join us to hear from the Roman historian Dr Emma Southon on how she has brought the women back into the history of Rome!
About this Event

Dr. Emma Southon holds a PhD in Ancient History from the University of Birmingham. She is the author of Marriage, Sex and Death: the Family and the Fall of Rome, Agrippina: Empress, Exile, Hustler, Whore and A Fatal Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Her most recent book is A History of the Roman Empire in 21 Women. She also co-hosts a history/comedy podcast with writer Janina Matthewson called. She lives in Belfast with her husband and their cat, Livia.

In A History of the Roman Empire in 21 Women, Southon traces an alternative history of Rome through the lives of Vestal Virgins, Sex Workers, Martyrs and Saints. She will speak on the subject of writing the women back into history. Our friends, the Heath Bookshop will be here with books for sale, and Emma will be signing them. Everyone is very welcome!
