Spend your Friday night with emily the band, Sophie Mitchell, and mars hojilla at Trumpet Blossom! // $10 coveremily the band is a three-piece queer girl group based in Peoria, Illinois, composed of Emily Antonacci (vocals, ukulele, songwriting), Camryn Proctor (guitar, vocals, melodica, arrangements, composition), and Abbey Haste (drums, percussion). They have played sad-girl ukulele pop at venues in the Peoria area, Champaign-Urbana, Bloomington-Normal, Galesburg, and more since April 2021.
Emily, Camryn, and Abbey originally joined forces to play their first set as a trio to commemorate the release of Emily's debut EP, "living room." The three friends became emily the band, and they have been living their rockstar dreams ever since. Since their first show, the group has played headlining shows across Illinois and supported acts such as The Accidentals, Sarah & The Underground, and New Souls. With sets full of original songs and covers of Olivia Rodrigo, beabadoobee, and qq, they strive to show audiences that there is a space for everyone in the music industry.
Sophie Mitchell is a writer, artist and musician. She has written poetry and short stories since childhood and has transitioned to songwriting as a vehicle for expression. In her first single, "Your Other One", she partnered with Nick Wilkins to create a fresh take on the breakup song. It is an exploration of the complex, intense, and contradicting emotions that bubble up after an intimate relationship ends. Underneath that, the song navigates feelings of uncertainty and lostness that are unique to transitional phases in life. Released in January 2022, her next single, “Sick Habit” attempts to describe the intangible in a story-like fashion, with no chorus or repetition. Her third original single entitled “I’m Still Here” features consoling lyrics about self-love and interdependency—as well as voice memos contributed by friends and family.
mars hojilla is the solo project of central Illinois- and Iowa City-based musician Myles Evangelista. mars hojilla is self-described as writing original music that sounds like the acoustic versions of punk songs that don't exist yet.
