Emily Haavik & Big Lake at Aster

DOORS 7pm
SHOW 8-10pm
Emily Haavik is a singer-songwriter from the shores of Lake Superior, now based in Minneapolis. Her 2024 album Wingspan was dubbed "utter perfection" by Adventures in Americana and garnered her two Midwest Country Music Award nominations for Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. "The only thing more addicting than Emily’s systematic teardown of patriarchy is the '90s country sensibility she pairs with it." (Southern Minn Scene)
Big Lake first made their mark with a self-titled debut of driving indie guitar rock and tightly crafted songs, earning regular spins on MPR 89.3 The Current. On 2025's Short Term Plans, Patrick Mazurek and Eric Carlson stripped it down to the studs, revealing a spare, unhurried set of Americana songs. The record was cut mostly live in the house they shared in Northeast Minneapolis, and it sounds that way. Unforced, close, made by two people who have zero reasons left to impress each other. The result doesn't sound like a genre exercise, but more like an admission of who they were all along.
