Emergency Centre Officer Training (Face-to-Face)

Emergencies can and do strike without warning, pushing community members into unfamiliar situations and disrupting support networks. In these crucial early stages, the provision of shelter, safety and information are vital. Emergency centres provide a centre point for this support to be delivered; they require decisive action and pragmatic decision making of the manager to ensure the safety and well-being of all those affected.
As part of the London Local Authority's emergency planning sector standardisation, and within the wider context of the UK’s latest guidance on Emergency Centres, this half-day training course will equip the attendee with the necessary skills to run an emergency centre in the role of Emergency Centre Manager.
The core objectives of the training are to know and understand:
1 For the attendees to understand the wider emergency response environment in which emergency centres are part of.
2 To be able to list local authority roles involved in setting up emergency centres and what your role and responsibility is as an Emergency Centre officer.
3 Have clarity on the type of facilities which may be established to meet the needs of individuals affected by emergencies.
4 To understand the purpose of recording information and types of records that must be kept.
5 The attendees have had the opportunity to network and share ideas with each other.
Completion of the course will mean you are trained to be an Emergency Centre Officer. Slides circulated after the session.
