Emergence is a collective of Melbourne based improvising musicians; Matt Hoyne, Flora Carbo, Harry Tinney and Brennan Hamilton-Smith. Through a partnership with Uptown Jazz Cafe, the collective will present a program of original live music featuring young and emerging local musicians. The Emergence concert series will begin in March, and run consecutively on every Tuesday of the month until September. Each week one of the four core artists will perform two sets of all-new original music with their own group. The residency will culminate in a live album recording for each of the four artists each Tuesday of the month of August.
On this Tuesday of the month Flora Carbo presents MAGNIFY.
MAGNIFY is Melbourne saxophonist Flora Carbo’s newest creative endeavour. The project sees the amplification of the ‘Flora Carbo Trio’ (Maddison Carter on drums and Isaac Gunnoo on bass) with the addition of Eitan Ritz (modular synthesiser) who will manipulate and process live sounds from the trio. Exploring the intersection between acoustic and electronic, Flora’s compositions are inspired by Sidney Bechet, Ornette Coleman and Arthur Russell.
Doors at 7:30pm, music starts at 8:00pm sharp.
