About this Event
EmCon is a one day event where you can learn from em'mazing game dev professionals! Come and watch a series of talks from speakers who have worked on titles like Untitled Goose Game, Night in the Woods, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, and lily's world XD.
Em Halberstadt
In this talk, Em will share how slowing down and really listening to everything that’s going on in your body and mind can restore creative depth, and make work feel more enjoyable and meaningful. Through lessons she’s experienced over the years and insights from games and sound, she will explore how this deeper kind of mindfulness can be used to feel better about making stuff, and to make better stuff.
Em Halberstadt is the Creative Director at A Shell In the Pit, where she has worked on the sound of 28 games in the span of 8 years, such as Pacific Drive, Untitled Goose Game, Night in the Woods, and Chicory. She also works on marketing, team building, and trailers! Em is interested in the way in which sound can evoke emotion and stillness so easily, and in capturing this from the world around her through recording.
Emily Pitcher (SonderingEmily)
Emily Pitcher is a game dev content creator and developer behind lily's world XD, a psychological horror game about investigating a young girl's computer. Search her computer files, diary, and social media until you find messages addressed to you...Emily has been featured in Forbes 30 under 30 Games, The Game Awards Future Class, NPR, Business Insider, Entrepreneur, and Polygon.
Emily will share how she went from making a failed game to her horror game lily's world XD, which has attracted the attention of 20+ publishers, many showcases, and millions of views on social media. Specifically, she gives tips on how to come up with a game idea that players will engage with and how to turn that idea into viral videos. She shares actionable ways to evaluate your game idea, dissects her best and worst videos, and gives ideas for videos you can make about your game.
