About this Event

Join us for this conference for Catholic Young Adults which will take place in the international headquarters of the Legion of Mary on Morning Star Avenue, Brunswick Street North, Dublin 7. Be inspired by input from various speakers, learn more about your Catholic faith, and celebrate it with others.

Catherine McMahon will deliver the first talk of the day, entitled 'The Everyday Apostle: Bringing Christ into Daily Life with Our Lady'. Catherine has extensive experience in communications, community-building, and supporting volunteers. She is the founder and leader of Beloved, a thriving community for young adult women focused on friendship and faith. Linked to the spirituality of Opus Dei initiatives like Beloved help people discover God in the midst of daily life and daily routines.

Fr Brian Doyle OP will deliver the second talk of the day, entitled 'Is the Blessed Virgin Mary the Mediatrix of all Graces? Church Teaching Explained'. Fr Brian is a Dominican friar, who received his doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, Rome in 2024. Before entering the Dominican Order he lectured in Civil Engineering in the University of Galway, Ireland. He currently teaches theology in the Dominican Institute of Studies, Dublin, and has previously published articles in the area of Christology. He is presently the Prior of St Saviour's Priory in Dublin, which is the Dominican Student House of Formation.

Workshops will be delivered by Mary-Aoife Ong on the topic of St Carlo Acutis, Neil Mather on 'Bible Study: How to Evangelise your Friends', Christine O'Hara on the Rosary, and Sean Blackwell on Photography.

Testimonies will be given by young adult Legionaries of Mary.

Mass will be celebrated in the afternoon in St Mary of the Angels Capuchin Church nearby. There will be an opportunity to avail of the sacrament of Confession for those who wish to.

Visit the house of Servant of God Frank Duff and see memorabilia from his life. Visit the chapel of the Regina Coeli hostel for homeless women, running since the 1930's by Legionaries serving in an entirely voluntary basis, helping serve and support women of all ages through times of difficulty.

Following the conclusion of the conference at 6pm, there will be a post-conference social at 'The Black Sheep' located on Capel Street (less than a 10 minute walk away). Platters of finger-food will be available at a cost of €15pp.

Public transport options for reaching Morning Star Avenue include the Red Luas Line which stops at Smithfield which is close by. Buses including the Number 23, and Number 24, stop on Church Street which is nearby. If driving, Smithfield Market Car Park, which is walking distance from Morning Star Avenue, offers a €10 day rate.
