This weekend workshop will focus on two of the primary philosophical texts of Yoga; The Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras. Each morning will start with a 10am all levels Yoga Class, to embody the teachings of the day. From there we will sprinkle in reading, discussion, reflection and practices designed around the content of the texts we are studying.
Each day we will include the 8 Limbs of Yoga in our practices, as a way to embody the teachings we are exploring. The 8 Limbs of Yoga are:
Yamas (guidelines for relationship with others)
Niyamas (guidelines for relationship with self)
Asana (poses)
Pranayama (breath)
Pratyahara (sense withdrawl)
Dharana (concentration)
Dhyana (meditation/mindfulness)
Samadhi (awakening)
We will use the framework of the Yamas and Niyamas as a springboard to a conversation of ethics within Yoga.
