Embodied Objects and Casting with El(ena) Hoskyns-Abrahall

Bring a meaningful object, make a wax cast, and create a community charm bracelet celebrating queer identity and connection.
About this Event

In this workshop we will bring together small hand-held objects which are significant to us - a special pebble, a favourite ring, a small key, an acorn you found on an important day ... We will then learn how to make basic moulds of them using clay to make wax casts of our objects. These objects will be strung together to make a sort of ‘community charm bracelet’ documenting our personal identities through the objects we hold dear, and you will be able to take away your very own wax cast object.

El(ena) Hoskyns-Abrahall's solo exhibition, Alter, will be on show at Studio KIND from 23rd August to 19th September. You will have a chance to visit the exhibition and chat to El(ena) and their work.No prior arts knowledge required and all materials provided - just bring your favourite objects!

Expressions of Queerness are a series of FREE art workshops for 16-24-year-old LGBTQIA+ people (and allies!) at Studio KIND.

All attendees will be provided with a £5 travel bursary for each activity attended.

Studio Kind is situated at the far end of and within Barnstaple Pannier Market. During out of hours, the market can be accessed by a small wooden door from Butchers Row.

Nearest Car parks are the Cattle Market car park or Barnstaple Central. There is disabled parking on Boutport Street.

The bus station is a 5-minute walk away and the train station a 15-minute walk or bus journey of 10 minutes.

Our venue is wheelchair friendly and accessible to all. There are accessible toilets right next door.
