TICKETS ON SALE NOW 🎟Deos Contemporary Ballet's fan-favorite annual mixed repertory EMBER Series is back, bringing fresh perspectives and time-honored classics to the ballet stage. Featuring Tess Sinke's new original work based on Euripides’ famous tragedy, "Trojan Women" follows the fate of the women of Troy following the war between the invading Greek armies and the people of the city.
The tragedy of EMBER's second act, comprised of the 40-minute world premiere of "Trojan Women," is balanced by a multi-danced first act highlighting Dennis Spaight's "Crayola." This historic ballet, with an original premiere on the Oregon Ballet Theater in 1979, is a work performed in total silence. Calling attention to the sounds made by the dancers' pointe shoes and utilizing American Sign Language to connect with the audience, "Crayola" was a revolutionary work in the 70s and remains an artistically curious piece about connection and purity.
"Lamentation Variations" returns to the Deos Ballet stage during EMBER, in collaboration with the Martha Graham Dance Company of New York City. Comprised of three modern solos inspired by Martha Graham's iconic work, "Lamentation," this piece explores grief, hope, and passion that connects us all.
