About this Event
LGBT+ Ireland, Irish Hospice Foundation and All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care would like to invite you to the launch of Ember - Compassion and Pride for the LGBTQIA+ Community in Death.
Join us at Smock Alley Theatre on the 29th of October for a unique wake experience. Where life and death will be celebrated, where you will be invited to lie with your own mortality, explore your feelings and thoughts that finite life brings.
Ember is a guide that was developed and driven by a group of volunteers from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies that aims to inform and empower LGBTQIA+ people to start thinking about Advance or Future Care Planning for end of life. People from the LGBTQIA+ community may experience specific challenges in the legal and healthcare system and this document provides guidance and information regarding aspects of the end of life journey.
This project is supported by the LGBTI+ Community Services Fund 2023 from The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
We encourage you to dress to impress -- let's celebrate life and death!
Please note this venue has limited accessibility. There are no lifts but there is a ramp for access. Bathrooms are accessible but small. Let us know about your accessibility needs in the registration form.
