Embedding genomics to enhance patient care

We hope you can join us at our regional Genomic Roadshow for healthcare professionals on 4 April 2023, at the Education Centre (Department 17), within The Christie School of Oncology, between 09:30 and 12:00 noon to listen to keynote speakers from your region, and learn more about the relevancy of genomics and genomic medicine, throughout a patient’s journey from primary care, via pathology, to the Ph*rm*cy, and beyond.

Keynote speakers and topics will include:

• John McDermott, NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow in Genomic Medicine | Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine | Acute Genetics | Pharmacogenetics: 'Pharmacogenetics, pharmacogenomics and the PROGRESS project'
• Matt Krebs, Cancer Genomics Medical Lead, Clinical Senior Lecturer in Experimental Cancer Medicine and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology: 'The circulating tumour DNA technology (ctDNA) testing pathway'
• Nursing and midwifery panel discussion: ‘Dispelling the myths of genomics and you’ Our panel will include Professor Janelle Yorke - Executive Chief Nurse & Director of Quality, Mandy Philbin - Chief Nurse, Greater Manchester Integrated Care, and Joann Kiernan - Learning disability nurse lecturer Edge Hill University, Consultant nurse Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Each of our roadshows will cover different topics, that are relevant to the local area.

There will be a Q&A following each individual presentation, as well as a physical ‘Genomic Marketplace’ where other topics can be discussed face to face, with other members of our Alliance team, during breaks within the presentations. Refreshments will be available.
