One of Cambridgeshire’s premier ceilidh bands, Frog on a Bike are honoured and delighted to be invited back to Ely and play the 40th anniversary of what they consider to be their spiritual home festival.
An established and popular band on the professional East Anglian ceilidh scene for over 30 years, Frog on a Bike’s post Pandemic formed 6 piece “festival band” has also seen them become a staple of the wider English ceilidh circuit, which has included festival appearances at Folk East, Whitby, Towersey, Shrewsbury, Sidmouth, Cambridge and, of course, Ely!
Composers and creative interpreters of traditional tunes, Frog on a Bike’s particular brand of high energy folk-rock, distinctively large sound and driving rhythm is guaranteed to have you up and dancing. With a luscious line-up of sumptuous melodeon, recorder, fiddle and mandolin, backed by a riotous rhythm section of bass & electric guitars, plus drums, you won’t be disappointed that you came along for the ride!
Your caller for the Friday night ceilidh is the fabulous Fee Lock! One of the best known, most competent and exciting ceilidh callers in the country, we can’t tell you how long Fee has been calling, it just seems to be forever and her ceilidhs are nothing short of brilliant. Fee has called for all the big name ceilidh bands at all the biggest & best festivals, so for the opening ceilidh at the 40th edition of Ely Folk Festival, what better hands could you be in!
