Singer Songwriter. Folk. Americana.
CLT NC
Jeremy Davis / Elonzo Wesley (he/him) is a singer songwriter based out of Charlotte NC. Growing up in South Carolina on a farm, Davis spent his childhood in the woods and fields of the lowcountry. That plainness, that closeness to the land, that Americana shines though. Blending regional folk sounds with a wider influence of a more modern indie canon, he pays homage to the beauty and sorrow of the past while hoping for a brighter future. Elonzo Wesley has shared the stage with bands like The Devil Makes Three, Susto, Shovels and Rope, as well as performed at festivals like Tuckfest, Shakori Hills, Virginia Creeper Fest', as well as toured independently across the US.
"Since their first recorded steps as a band in November 2017, four-piece Americana outfit Elonzo Wesley have lulled audiences into a beautifully poignant dance of Appalachian strings and soul."
~ Joni Deutsch, WFAE Amplifier (NPR)
"We'd only heard Elonzo Wesley via audio and YouTube videos. But the energy, talent and sheer musicianship they brought to The Wake Forest Listening Room just blew everyone away. They have an incredible presence on stage. We're definitely going to have them back!"
~ Wake Forest Listening Room
There’s something achingly vulnerable in singer-songwriter Jeremy Davis’ voice that renders the plaintive acoustic music of his band Elonzo Wesley all the more affecting. Over a percussive mandolin and a mournful fiddle, Davis seems to be pouring his heart out in a deeply sad, crystal-clear cry that forms the center of the band’s music. It has the trappings of acoustic Americana, but there’s something more emotional going on here that’s hard not to be moved by. Maybe it’s what good Americana should be.
~ Free Times - Columbia, SC
"Following a new streamlined creative process, Elonzo Wesley is fired up on new material. Singles, like "Human Bean", showcase Davis' songwriting prowess, and his simple message to care for your neighbor..."
~ Charleston City Paper - Charleston, SC
Festival plays - 23’ Confluence Carolinas, 23’ Fork Fest, '19 Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, '19 Virginia Creeper Fest, '19 NC Brewers & Music, '18 Tuck Fest USNWC, ‘17 NC Brewers & Music Festivals
