In this walk you will learn to identify every species of northeastern elm among the most impressive surviving collection of American elm trees. In addition to five elms, you'll learn five other trees one might commonly confused with elm. Seeing their leaves side-by-side is the best way to recognize and remember their nuanced distinctions.
Please note: Meeting spot is across the street from the American Museum of Natural History at the bronze bust of Alexander Von Humboldt at CPW and West 77th Street. This entrance to the park is aptly called "Naturalists' Gate."
