About Ellie:

I’ve been a designer for over 10 years and am now based in the Bay Area, where I create handmade pieces that bring beauty and joy into everyday life. 

My current work centers on Nerikomi, a rare Japanese technique of layering colored clay to form intricate patterns. Each piece is made slowly and intentionally, celebrating the unexpected details that emerge through the process.

Every item is one of a kind and crafted in small batches. I believe in creating objects that are not only functional but also meaningful, designed to bring a quiet sense of delight to your daily rituals.

I work from my home studio (part garage, part backyard), and as my business grows, I hope to one day move into a dedicated studio space and expand what Ellie Studio can offer.

What is Nerikomi?
Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese pottery technique where different colors of clay are layered and sliced to reveal intricate patterns. Unlike painted designs, the patterns run all the way through the clay, making each piece unique, durable, and truly one of a kind.
